Cubomania

My "before" Cubomania.

This is my Cubomania. I've always loved abstract art, and this project reminds me a little of the David Hockney project we did last year. The reason I picked flowers for my cubomania piece is because first I'm excited for spring, but the second good reason is that flowers can be something very sensual in art especially when they are taken into an abstract form. Many artists say that you can compare flowers to the human body because of all the different shapes and forms. While making my cubomania I tried mashing up similar shapes and contrasting ones it was really fun.

  1. I love both of your photos, I think the black and white gives it a very cool feeling also. I like the fact that you tried to mash up similar shapes, it totally works. Good job.

  2. At first I was shocked to see that you had chosen black and white for the main color of your photo, but now I see why. The black and white makes the end result look similar to camouflage, it all just kind of blends together, but it makes it look so interesting! I really like all of the different shapes and configurations you got in your end result! I like it a lot!

  3. I agree with Dillon and Kathryn, I like how the black and white edit turned out and the random shape sizes turned out creative and different. Nice work.

  4. I know you've heard it three times, but I can't help but to say ditto to all comments above on the black and white. Love the look it did! When you put it into the Cubomania it almost made me feel as if I was Alice in wonderland, ha.:) You did a fantastic job!

  5. I really like this because 1)it is flowers, 2)it is black and white, 3)because it still looks like normal flowers! Like the way it looks, to my eyes, it still looks like a normal flower picture. It was genius to use this picture, and arrange it the way that you did! Very nice work!

  8. I love your project, a big reason being how well all the individual pieces meld together. I can see no cracks anywhere between the image pieces, and they came together to create an image that looks like it was barely edited. Part of the reason that this came together so well is, I think, because of the use of black and white, making the colors look similar and flow better.
